For great Taiwanese food at a reasonable price in bushwick, this is the spot. A-pou (aka grandma's) taste is worth a visit if you're in the area. She usually is running around taking orders and greeting guest. The lu-rou rice is a must get for those who love fatty pork, and the beef noodle soup does not disappoint. The popcorn chicken was also very flavorful, and white pepper is on the side which I feel you got to add for more enhanced flavors. When order she said we should order 3 instead of 4 items so we don't waste, which was very true. The sizes are reasonable based on price. A milk tea or lemonade for $1 is also a steal, but the milk tea does taste pretty authentic to me. If I am in the area will definitely go back. Cash only but they do Zelle & Venmo!

What a gem tucked away in the industrial area of East Williamsburg. Flavorful food at the cheapest price in probably all of NYC! They cater to many of the local workers, and is constantly busy. They have 8 tables with 4 seats each for dining in. The service feels like your mom serving you, so charming and warm. Started off with a Lemon Ginger Tea and some potstickers. Ordered both Chicken and Shrimp potstickers, with Shrimp being the favorite. We ordered a Basil Chicken w/ white rice and a Sesame Chicken w/ white rice. Food was good, highly recommend. Will definitely be back to try other options.

A top tier hole in the wall spot for affordable Taiwanese food. Do the owner a favor and bring cash to pay! The owner is such a lovely person who brings a taste of Taiwan to Brooklyn. The beef noodle soup is good although the beef is a bit tough. (If you eat it via shredding the meat, it tastes less tough). The dumplings were also really tasty. The 1$ cold drinks fridge has great cold milk tea reminiscent of those I've had in Taiwan. I love this spot and totally recommend you check it out! It also seems popular with the workers around the neighborhood - affordable authentic food in East williamsburg, what else could you ask for!

+1 star for the sweetest workers!! And love the casual ambiance. Big fan of the Taiwanese braised pork. Tender and juicy and a good amount of fatty. The beef noodle soup and kimchi potstickers to me were okay but not standouts. Will come back and try the crispy chicken!

It's not the MOST amazing Taiwanese food you'll have but at the price and the speed, it deserves 5 stars. Loved the braised pork over rice the most. The popcorn chicken was a close second. I'd love to come back for a quick and affordable meal.

I happen to be in the area and was looking for something to grab for takeout. This place happen to pop up and I decided to try it. The outside and inside is very unassuming. The location is off a beaten path sitting amongst a commercial area where there's lots of cars and not much foot traffic. Since it was my first time, I ordered Taiwanese staples like the basil chicken and braised pork. Both were not bad. The braised pork was very flavorful and I was shocked at the size because usually Taiwanese braised pork is usually cut into small bits with the fats and meats intertwined. That being said, it was still good. The only thing I wasn't a fan of was the rice, but that's because I prefer jasmine rice. The owner is super friendly and very nice. I was very shocked how she spoke so many languages. She's able to speak in Mandarin, some Cantonese, Spanish and English! Amazing. We chatted in a mix of all. While I was there with my kids she also offered a little dish just for him - she is so sweet. While there - check out their drink fridge. There's many little goodies in there for only $1! That includes coffee/tea (yum) and prunella (iykyk) and many others

Totally understand the hype--really affordable prices for comforting food. Ordered the Braised Pork because I saw a lot about it. While it is flavored well, I would enjoy another entree if I go back. Most pieces were majority fat vs meat. The dumplings are perfectly crispy though! The freshness is apparent. I could make a whole meal out of these. Very adorable, friendly owner as well :)

YUM! The Taiwanese braised pork over rice is delicious. The pork is so tender and jiggly. It comes with a soy sauce marinated boiled egg, although I think the egg could have been more flavorful. I was not a fan of the greens, they were a little mushy and sour-tasting. At its price, this bowl was delicious and well worth it!

This is the type of no frills restaurant that I love!! This place serves up authentic Taiwanese dishes at an amazing price point. It's a very cute mom and pop joint and we were served by the cutest gramma. Got the Taiwanese braised pork, basil chicken, beef noodle soup, and chicken/pork potstickers all for $35 and fed 5 ppl!!! Everything tasted great and was served hot and fresh! It felt very homey, just wish it wasn't so out of the way! Cash only!!!

My friend saw this place on IG? tiktok? anyways and of course we had to come, since I am always in search of good, affordable Taiwanese food around NYC. We got there around 6:30 ish and it was surprisingly busy! There just a handful of seats available for us. But people eat quickly and within 10-20 minutes most seats were empty (所以來得早不如來得巧). Since it was rather bustling when we arrived, we were a bit confused on how to order etc since all the staff were handling other customers for short while, but eventually they came over and brought menus to us. (And later they came to our table to take our order, after I walked up to the counter to try to order lol) My friend and I both ordered the beef noodle soup. It came out pretty quickly and I was so excited ! It smelled so authentic and fragrant, and there were SO many pieces of tender, juicy beef. The noodles were like the knife-cut ones (刀削麵), which was nice albeit a tad unorthodox. Instead of the usual veggies like Chinese broccoli, gaoli cabbage, or bok choy, the noodles came with some broccoli on top. Have I seen it before in beef noodle soup? Yeah I guess, but is it common? Not really. Also, I don't like broccoli so there's that. Anyways. We also had some pot stickers too; originally we tried to order 10 of the pork fillings to share, but the nice boss lady 老闆娘 suggested we get 5 of the pork and 5 of the kimchi beef for some variety. Unfortunately the pork dumplings were way better than the beef ones so note to self: take advice from well-meaning grandmas with a grain of salt in the future. They were all very tasty, for sure, but the pork ones had juicier fillings and a more balanced flavour overall, while I didn't really feel like the beef and kimchi complemented each other well here. Cash only, expectedly, and they have one of those no-name (probably crazy surcharge) ATMs in the corner for if you really forgot to bring cash I guess. And it only came out to $30+tip for the both of us! What a steal. It really did feel like a very casual and intimate environment - a lot of the decor feels like sitting in your (well, at least in my) grandparents house, and there's a huge TV on the wall playing karaoke videos for some questionable Chinese songs from the last half-century. Also, the owner was so sweet, coming over regularly to check on us/our food and making some small talk with us. Probably the most authentic part, though, was at the end. After paying, I was just chilling at the table waiting for my friend in the washroom, when the boss lady walked over, looked me up and down a few times, and gave me some advice on facial skincare. I was like, yeah this is exactly what happens to me in Taiwan ... Can't wait to come back! Huge selection of cheap biandangs to try in the future
